RPI Pleads Guilty, Will Pay $1.65 Million For Colorado Tunnel Fire That Killed Five

DENVER—A specialty painting contractor Dec. 19 pleaded guilty to five misdemeanor worker safety violations and agreed to pay $1.65 million, most of it to the families of five company employees killed in a 2007 fire in a tunnel at a hydroelectric plant in Georgetown, Colo. (United States v. RPI Coating Inc.).

RPI Coating Inc. of Santa Fe Springs, Calif., pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado to five counts of violating regulations of the Labor Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration resulting in death.
