Royal Caribbean, Jilted Opera Singer Must Try ADA Job Bias Gripe

A jury must decide whether Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. withdrew a depressed opera singer’s offer of employment on a Singapore to Stockholm cruise because it perceived him to be disabled or because it was concerned about complying with international guidelines, the Southern District of Florida ruled.

The June 5 decision addresses novel issues regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act’s application to employees on vessels that sail under a foreign flag.
