Religious Bias Focus of EEOC General Counsel Feedback Sessions

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission advanced its initiative to address religious discrimination in the workplace by hosting listening sessions on the topic, soliciting input on how the agency can mitigate this form of bias.

The sessions, which took place over three days, were spearheaded by agency General Counsel Sharon Gustafson, according to an EEOC statement, as part of a work group she established in May made up of agency attorneys, investigators, “training and outreach liaisons from across the country” and others focused on combating religious bias.
