Reality TV Producers to Pay $226K in New York Wage Probe (1)

Sharp Entertainment LLC, a leading reality-television producer, will pay $226,000 to resolve a New York investigation into claims that it denied overtime pay to production assistants and associate producers.

The settlement, announced April 25 by state Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman (D), is the latest development in a series of cases alleging widespread disregard of labor laws in the film and television production industry. In addition to continuing efforts by the attorney general’s office, the litigation includes a line of private wage and hour lawsuits in New York and California going back to 2009.
