Randstad North America Settles DOJ Claims of Immigrant Bias

Randstad North America Inc., one of the nation’s largest staffing firms, has reached a settlement with the Justice Department over allegations of bias against immigrants and unlawful work authorization practices.

The company will pay $135,000 in civil penalties after a DOJ investigation unveiled evidence of the alleged violations at Randstad’s South Plainfield, N.J., office. According to the settlement, employees repeatedly asked foreign nationals to show their permanent resident cards when they already had submitted sufficient documentation to prove their work authorization.

Randstad is the second staffing giant in the last year to find itself in the DOJ’s crosshairs. ...
