Rainbow Shops, a nationwide women’s clothing retailer, owes unpaid wages to hundreds of employees in California for time spent submitting to off-the-clock security inspections, according a federal lawsuit filed in Los Angeles.
Darrenia James, who worked at a Rainbow location in Los Angeles, filed the proposed class action on behalf of other hourly retail employees in California.
The complaint alleges Rainbow’s security and timekeeping policies and practices cheat employees out of minimum wages and overtime pay for all hours worked, in violation of California labor and business laws.
