Rail Board Urges Pay Hikes to Prevent 115,000-Worker US Strike (2)

An emergency board formed to prevent a strike of 115,000 workers against the largest US railroads Tuesday recommended wage increases and expanded health coverage for workers to resolve the labor dispute that threatens to cripple national supply chains.

The Presidential Emergency Board report recommended an agreement between major freight companies and the 12 unions representing their workers that would provide annual wage increases and bonuses retroactive to 2020, and through 2024, according to the report obtained by Bloomberg Law. The recommendations would expand hearing and speech therapy benefits, while also removing caps on employees’ monthly contributions to their health coverage. ...
