A Pennsylvania staffing company resolved a Black worker’s harassment lawsuit based on racist remarks one of its recruiters inadvertently left on his voicemail, according to federal court records and the parties.
Bashir Shamsuddi said the voicemail was left after he called Classic Staffing Services to say he would be absent. The recruiter called back to ask him what was going on and made additional statements that she didn’t intend to be recorded. They included referring to Shamsuddi as a “jackass” and her use of racial expletives in reference to both him and his brother.
