The construction industry is uniquely prone to gender and race discrimination, and the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission should take steps to prevent these types of bias, stakeholders told the agency.
Trade unions’ role in preventing discrimination, access to trade skills programs, and preventing race and gender harassment topped the list of needed reforms discussed during an EEOC hearing Tuesday. The commission, which enforces workplace discrimination laws, will release some type of materials on this topic in the coming months, Chair Charlotte Burrows said.
