Quickway Questioned on Motives for Closing Unionized Terminal

A federal appeals court panel appeared skeptical of a shipping company’s argument that it had no choice but to shutter a terminal once it received reports that its unionized drivers were planning to strike.

An attorney for Paladin Capital Inc. affiliate Quickway Transportation Inc. told the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit Wednesday that the company faced “financial ruin” unless it closed the Louisville, Ky., shipping plant in 2020.
