QuantiTech, Qualis Keep Win Over Manager’s Retaliation Claims

QuantiTech Inc. and subcontractor Qualis Corp. defeated a information security manager’s attempt to revive a False Claims Act suit alleging he was fired in retaliation for calling attention to what he believed was improper conduct under a U.S. Air Force contract, the Eleventh Circuit affirmed Monday.

Israel Briggs claimed he was fired because he identified cybersecurity vulnerabilities in Air Force information systems.

But Briggs didn’t sufficiently allege that he had an objectively reasonable belief that the companies were violating the FCA, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit said in a nonprecedential opinion.
