Publix Loses Attempt to Avoid Employee Race Discrimination Suit

Publix Super Markets Inc. failed to convince a federal judge that a former employee’s race discrimination and adverse employment action lawsuit didn’t sufficiently allege discrimination.

Duane Hines says the company repeatedly passed him over for promotions due to his unspecified race, singled him out, and fired him for pretextual reasons. Hines brought a single claim for employment discrimination in violation of Title VII.
