Prosecutors Select Watchdog to Enforce UAW Corruption Accord

Prosecutors asked a federal judge to appoint a well-known trial attorney and former government watchdog as the official monitor of the United Auto Workers union’s anti-corruption efforts.

Detroit-based federal prosecutors asked U.S. District Judge David Lawson of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in a court filing Monday to appoint Jenner & Block attorney Neil Barofsky to oversee the union under a wide-ranging settlement with the federal government.
