Procter & Gamble Dodges Sex Discrimination Case at Supreme Court

The US Supreme Court rejected a former Procter & Gamble Co. subsidiary employee’s bid to revive her sex discrimination lawsuit.

The justices announced Monday that they’ll let stand the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit’s decision throwing out Shannon Gladden’s lawsuit against Procter & Gamble Distributing LLC. Gladden failed to show the company’s stated reason for firing her was a pretext masking illegal bias, the circuit court said.

The case would have given the Supreme Court an opportunity to clarify how courts should evaluate employers’ explanations for allegedly biased terminations or other adverse employment actions.
