Pro-Immigrant Groups Urge DHS to Simplify Entrepreneurs Process

The Department of Homeland Security should add premium processing options, among other steps, to streamline an Obama-era program for immigrant entrepreneurs, several national immigration groups told the agency in a letter.

The International Entrepreneur Parole program was established via regulation in January 2017, creating a framework for foreign entrepreneurs to come to the U.S. without a visa.

DHS last year rescinded a Trump administration rule that would have ended the program. But remaining barriers for applicants—including uncertain timeframes for approval—have made the IEP process “volatile, complex, uncertain and ambiguous,” the immigration groups wrote.
