Sonoma County Workers Approve Four-Year Labor Pact

The largest employee union in Sonoma County, Calif., ratified a labor contract that would give workers up to 14 percent pay increases over the four-year term of the agreement.

Service Employees International Union Local 1021 members in voting completed April 26 approved the pact for county workers, which now heads to the county Board of Supervisors for approval. The percentage of membership approving the contract was “in the high 90s,” union spokeswoman Cecille Isidro said April 29. Supervisors are scheduled May 7 to vote on the contract covering 2,040 medical, maintenance, clerical, and accounting employees.
