Pregnancy Accommodation Regulations Imminent, EEOC Official Says

The EEOC “in the very near future” will release proposed regulations related to a newly enacted federal pregnancy accommodation law, according to the commission’s vice chair.

The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s Jocelyn Samuels told attendees at a Chicago conference hosted by DirectEmployers Wednesday that regulations accompanying the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act will be coming “very shortly, within a matter of weeks or months.”

The PWFA, signed by President Joe Biden in January, requires employers to grant reasonable accommodations for pregnant employees. The law, which goes into effect June 27, directs the EEOC to pass regulations to help employers comply ...
