Postmates Questions Validity of Thousands of Arbitration Demands

Postmates Inc. shouldn’t be held in contempt for refusing to pay more than $10 million in arbitration filing fees to kickstart thousands of individual employment claims because the company did attempt to move forward and has questions about the validity of many of those claims, attorneys said.

The company attempted to work with plaintiffs’ firm Keller Lenkner, which is representing more than 5,200 couriers, to begin to address the filing fee issue and suggested beginning with 50 arbitration claims, Postmates’ attorneys told a San Francisco federal court on Dec. 11.
