Popular Calif. Burmese Restaurant Pays $4M in Back Wages

A chain of Burmese restaurants in San Francisco and Silicon Valley will pay $4 million to settle California Labor Commissioner claims it stiffed about 300 workers.

The state cited Rangoon Ruby Burmese Cuisine and assessed more than $10 million in wages and penalties for paying workers a fixed salary regardless of the number of hours they worked. Employees were owed $4.39 million in back wages at restaurants in Palo Alto, San Francisco, San Carlos, and Burlingame.
