Pizza Hut Drivers Land Franchisee Reimbursement Class Status

Pizza Hut workers can pursue mileage reimbursement claims as a class after a federal judge identified multiple problems with the arbitration agreements a franchisee produced in an attempt to block certification.

MP2 Enterprises LLC, which operates Pizza Hut restaurants in four states, argued that almost all of the drivers had signed arbitration agreements waiving their rights to stay in court or join a class. But the agreements aren’t valid or enforceable, and the workers satisfied all of the requirements for class treatment of their state-law claims, the US District Court for the District of Utah said.
