Pinterest Fails to Toss Worker Class Suit Alleging ‘Wage Abuse’

Pinterest Inc. must face a proposed class action alleging it failed to pay overtime and minimum wages, among other violations, to hourly workers in California, a judge in San Francisco ruled Monday.

The proposed class suit, filed in 2021, alleges several violations of California’s Labor Code, including failure to pay meal period premiums and rest period premiums, and failure to provide accurate wage statements.

Former San Francisco-based Pinterest employee Kiana Mathews sued on behalf of a putative class of current and former hourly-paid employees in California, including those hired directly by Pinterest as well as through a staffing agency.
