Pier 1 Imports agreed to pay $3.5 million to settle a lawsuit alleging it owes workers pay for when they’re scheduled to call the store to ask if they should report for work and are told to stay home.
About 9,300 retail store associates in California would share in the settlement. The agreement is a fair and adequate resolution, Judge Dale A. Drozd of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California said in granting preliminary approval Dec. 12.
