Elected officials in Phoenix can be booted from office for sexual harassment or other bad behavior, after voters easily passed changes to city rules in an Aug. 28 election.
More than 80 percent of voters approved a ballot measure to add teeth to the anti-harassment and anti-discrimination policy in the nation’s fifth-largest city, according to unofficial election results. For the first time, city council members will be able to remove one another from office under the proposition.
