Philadelphia Mayor Signs Legislation Requiring Paid Sick Leave for Workers

A bill requiring employers in Philadelphia to let employees accrue paid sick leave was passed by the City Council Feb. 12 and signed into law the same day by Mayor Michael A. Nutter (D).

The legislation (Bill No. 141026, City Code Chapter 9-4100), passed by a 14-2 council vote, requires employers with 10 or more employees to offer the paid sick leave. It takes effect 90 days from enactment.
