Petco Shortchanged Retail Employees on Wages, New Suit Says

Petco Animal Supplies Inc. is accused of cheating hundreds of retail workers out of their regular and overtime wages in a new lawsuit filed in a federal court in Manhattan.

The proposed class and collective action was brought by Ashley Knabl, who worked at Petco locations in Middletown and Poughkeepsie, N.Y., under the Fair Labor Standards Act and New York law.

Employees regularly worked unpaid straight-time and overtime hours as a result of Petco’s allegedly unlawful timekeeping policies and practices, the complaint says.

Petco actively discouraged employees from recording hours worked outside their regular shifts, the complaint alleges.
