Elaine’s Pet Resorts, which operates pet resorts in Fresno and Madera, California, will pay $35,000 to resolve claims that it fired or failed to hire individuals taking medically prescribed drugs, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced Thursday.

According to the EEOC, Elaine’s Pet Resorts failed to hire or terminated employees who failed the company’s post-offer drug screening, despite the medications being lawfully prescribed.

The case is EEOC v. Elaine’s Pet Resorts, E.D. Cal., No. 1:23-cv-01422, consent decree 5/20/25.
