Peapod Workers’ New Contract Means More Green

Workers at Peapod, Giant Food’s grocery delivery service, unanimously ratified a new contract June 27 that will raise their starting salaries from $8.75 an hour to $12 an hour, a United Food and Commercial Workers spokesman told Bloomberg BNA June 28.

The new pay scale will start at $12 an hour and can go up to $14.50 an hour, spokesman Jonathan Williams said. The new salaries will take effect at the Hanover, Md., facility once Peapod officially signs the contract.

Representatives from Peapod didn’t reply to requests for comment.
