PBGC Enforcement Should Be Less Adverse, Agency’s Liaison to Plan Community Says

The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation has several areas where it can improve its operations, such as taking a less adversarial approach to its enforcement operations, according to the first annual report from the agency’s liaison to the benefits community released Dec. 31.

The agency also should work on simplifying its communications with plan sponsors and participants, strengthening its processes and improving inter-agency departmental coordination, Constance Donovan, the first PBGC participant and plan sponsor advocate, said in her report.
