Patent Office, Weather Service Unions Challenge Trump Order (1)

Labor unions representing certain US Patent and Trademark Office and National Weather Service employees filed a lawsuit challenging President Donald Trump’s executive order nullifying their labor protections.

Trump’s Aug. 28 executive order is unlawful and violates the employees’ constitutional rights, the organizations argued in the lawsuit filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of Columbia. The suit names as defendants Trump, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, US Patent and Trademark Office Acting Director Coke Morgan Stewart and Laura Grimm, acting administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
