A paramedic who provided medical services in Puerto Rico after Hurricanes Irma and Maria claims his employers misclassified him and colleagues as independent contractors and didn’t pay them overtime wages.
E.J. LeJeune says he was paid a flat day rate of $327 while he was classified as an independent contractor, no matter how many hours he worked. He was on the clock for 8 to 12 hours a day, six to seven days a week, according to his lawsuit filed March 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas.
