Paramedic Trainee Advances Some Bias Allegations Against Chicago

A trainee paramedic can pursue allegations that Chicago engaged in disability-based discrimination, but she didn’t provide evidence that she made a request for reasonable accommodations which the city unlawfully denied.

The worker raised a genuine dispute of material fact as to whether she was qualified for Chicago’s paramedic academy and whether she lost a spot there because of disability, the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois said. But she can’t present “admissible evidence” that she sought accommodations, the Monday opinion said, trimming those claims.
