Delaware would become the 10th state to enact paid family and medical leave that covers qualifying private-sector workers, under legislation that passed in the state’s Senate.
The bill, SB 1, guarantees up to 12 weeks of job-protected paid time off annually for workers to care for a new child, sick family member, or their own personal medical problem. The Democrat-sponsored measure passed the Senate Tuesday afternoon on a 14-7 vote and needs approval from the House, where Democrats hold a majority of seats.
