Paid Family and Medical Leave Bill Introduced in Virginia

Private sector workers in Virginia could be next in line to get guaranteed paid family and medical leave.

Democratic lawmakers Del. Jennifer Carroll Foy and Sen. Jennifer Boysko introduced bills (H.B. 2120, S.B. 1639) that would require the state to establish a paid family and medical leave program that would grant eligible workers 12 weeks of paid leave at 70 percent of annual weekly wages beginning Jan. 1, 2022. The leave could be used for the birth, adoption, or fostering of a child, or for a serious health issue experienced by the worker or a family member. ...
