Overtime Protection Proposal Nearing Release Reaches White House

A US Labor Department proposal expected to expand overtime protections to more workers was sent to the White House budget office for review, the last step before it’s released publicly.

The Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs received the proposal from the Wage and Hour Division on Wednesday, according to its website.

Workers who are salaried, make more than a certain amount of money per year, and work in a “bona fide executive, administrative, or professional capacity” are exempt from requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act that employers pay a time and a half rate for any work ...
