The Americans with Disabilities Act has had a positive effect on the weekly wages of people with disabilities over the long term, according to a November 2013 working paper by Mathematica Policy Research, a private social policy research firm based in Princeton, N.J.
The paper, authored by Allison V. Thompkins, uses data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ March Current Population Survey for 1988-2010 to evaluate wage outcomes since the passage of the ADA, and examines pre-ADA state disability legislation and Supreme Court decisions that have altered the ADA’s meaning over time.
