OSHA Issues Under $1 Million in Federal Virus-Related Fines

The Labor Department’s workplace safety agency has proposed almost $1 million in penalties for companies for safety and health violations since the start of the coronavirus pandemic this year.

DOL’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited 62 establishments for violations, resulting in proposed penalties totaling $913,133, through Oct. 1, the department announced in a release updating its enforcement tally.

More than a third of that total came from coronavirus-related citations issued in the last week of September. OSHA issued citations to 25 establishments totaling $429,064 from Sept. 25 to Oct. 1, the department said.
