The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration has brought fines against a subsidiary of Taylor Fresh Foods Inc. over repeated safety violations.
The agency, part of the US Department of Labor, announced $1,125,484 in penalties on Monday for Taylor Farms New Jersey Inc., which it said failed to implement proper lockout/tagout procedures to prevent severe injuries during sanitation activities.
This comes after an OSHA investigation in May, which was prompted by the fatal injury of a worker while cleaning and sanitizing a machine. The agency cited Taylor Farms for 16 safety violations related to lockout/tagout and training requirements.
