OSHA Fines Two Construction Companies In Kansas City After Worker Killed in Fall

ST. LOUIS—Two construction companies in the Kansas City area were cited for safety violations following an accident in which a worker fell to his death through a roof opening, the Labor Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced Oct. 19.

Kirberg Roofing Co. of Kansas City, Kan., and Davila Sheet Metal Co. of Raytown, Mo., face combined fines of $295,000 for numerous violations.

According to an OSHA statement, the agency inspected the Kirberg worksite following the accident, which took place in April 2010, and found two alleged willful and two alleged serious violations of the Occupational Safety and Health Act. ...
