The Iowa Interstate Railroad wrongfully disciplined a train conductor for reporting a workplace injury, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced June 15, ordering the company to make amends for censuring the employee.
Iowa Interstate Railroad, headquartered in Cedar Rapids, issued the employee a notification of formal investigation in January 2009 after he reported a work injury, according to OSHA. The railroad also retaliated against the employee by disciplining him in the form of a letter of censure, OSHA said.
A spokesman for the railroad told BNA the company objects to OSHA’s findings and order and will appeal the case. ...
