Oregon, Senate Committee Must Face Worker’s Disability Bias Suit

Oregon and its Senate Committee on Conduct must face federal disability discrimination claims by the former chief of staff for Sen. Sara Gelser (D) after failing to show they’re immune from the suit, a federal judge in Portland ruled.

Laura Hanson claims she was denied accommodation for her mental and physical impairments, which substantially limited her in major life activities. Gelser restricted her from work and took her phone and computer before later firing her because of her disabilities, Hanson says in a suit that also named Sen. Floyd Prozanski (D) and Sen. Chuck Thomsen (D) as defendants.
