Oregon Educators Opposed to Trans Policy Win Lawsuit’s Revival

Two educators who lost their positions after campaigning against Oregon school district policies that supported transgender students convinced a federal appeals court to revive some of their claims Tuesday.

Genuine factual disputes exist, meaning the educators deserve another shot at many of their free speech claims against Grants Pass School District No. 7, the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit said. But the district judge correctly tossed the workers’ damages claims against individual school officials on qualified immunity grounds, the opinion said.
