Oracle-Owned Cerner, Labor Department Reach Race Bias Settlement

Cerner Corp. will pay $1.8 million to settle a US Department of Labor investigation into alleged discrimination against Black and Asian employees in Missouri and Kansas, according to a settlement made public Tuesday.

The digital medical records provider, which was bought by Oracle Corp. earlier this year, allegedly showed systematic bias against Black and Asian employees during the hiring process and failed to measure the effectiveness of its affirmative action plan.

Cerner also agreed to monitor its hiring practices moving forward to ensure a more equitable hiring process and will have to submit progress reports to the DOL on top ...
