Oklahoma 35th State to Join DOL Worker Misclassification Push

The Labor Department and the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission are teaming to weed out employer misclassification of workers as independent contractors, part of a nationwide Wage and Hour Division initiative.

The parties announced a three-year memorandum of understanding Sept. 13, making Oklahoma the 35th state to coordinate enforcement with the WHD around finding employers that have inappropriately labeled employees as independent contractors. They will also share resources in providing compliance assistance to Oklahoma employers around this topic.
