Ohio Union Hit With Class Action Over Dues Policy

A conservative advocacy group filed a proposed class action challenging an Ohio-based union’s policy of limiting when workers who quit the union can stop paying dues.

The National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation said in its Oct. 15 lawsuit that an American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees affiliate has violated government workers’ First Amendment rights by continuing to collect dues after they resigned from the union. The foundation represents seven employees who work for state and local agencies in Ohio.
