Offshore Workers’ Revised $2.4 Million Pay Deal Gets Approval

A revised $2.4 million settlement between Ensign and more than 300 offshore oil rig workers who alleged various wage and breaks violations received preliminary approval from a federal judge in California.

The class members will split roughly $1.37 million. Of that amount, $200,000 will go toward the resolution of their Fair Labor Standards Act overtime claims.

Class counsel will receive $840,000 in attorneys’ fees plus up to $15,000 in litigation costs.

The deal also provides $60,000 worth of service awards to two named plaintiffs, $15,000 in settlement administration costs, and $100,000 in penalties under California’s Private Attorneys General Act, with ...
