A federal subcontractor that provides demolition and asbestos abatement services in the Washington area has discriminated against a class of black and Hispanic workers, the Labor Department alleged in a lawsuit (OFCCP v. Potomac Abatement, Inc., Dep’t of Labor A.L.J., No. 2016-OFC-8, complaint announced 8/30/16).
The case is the DOL Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs’ first administrative action against a construction subcontractor in fiscal year 2016. The agency previously filed a lawsuit against a construction staffing firm in June 2015. That case is still pending.
