Oakland, Calif., Workers Back on Job After Weeklong Strike

Oakland, Calif., employees returned to their jobs Dec. 12 after a weeklong strike over pay raises and increased use of temporary workers.

Members of Service Employees International Union Local 1021 went on strike Dec. 5. The 1,700 Local 1021 members were joined by 1,000 members of International Technical and Professional Engineers Local 21 who went on strike in support. International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1245 honored the picket lines.
