Covid-19 vaccinations will become optional for current and prospective New York City workers and Department of Education employees, according to an announcement from Mayor Eric Adams.
- New policy will take effect on Feb. 10 following the expected ratification at the next Board of Health meeting
- Those who were previously terminated for failing to submit proof of vaccination will be able to apply for positions with their former agencies
- Visitors to Department of Education school buildings will no longer need to provide proof of at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine
