NYC Uber, Lyft Drivers Get Pay Boost From Panel (1)

The New York City body that regulates taxis and car services adopted a pay standard for drivers of Uber, Lyft, and other for-hire vehicles aimed at boosting net income by almost 45 percent.

The standard calls for minimum pay of $17.22 per hour, the independent contractor equivalent of $15 per hour plus paid time off.

The Dec. 4 action by the city’s Taxi and Limousine Commission follows through on an August pledge by Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) to issue the standard as part of a plan to cap the growth of app-based e-hailing platforms. Driver advocates say they’ve clogged ...
