More than 100 New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority workers say the public transit system hasn’t been paying them required overtime.
The MTA has allegedly only paid them their “straight” rate for hours they work beyond 40 every week, instead of the required time-and-a-half, in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
The employees are spread among three MTA subsidiaries: the Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority, MTA Bus Company, and MTA Headquarters.
The complaint was filed Jan. 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
